Criteria for Admission

  • Diagnosis of a terminal illness with a prognosis of three months or less.

  • Must be enrolled in Hospice or be determined to be Hospice appropriate and have a DNR order in place.

  • Must understand that The Heart of Jesus Home for the Dying is not a medical facility, but a home staffed primarily by trained volunteers both male and female who provide care as a family would for their loved one. We do not provide skilled nursing or medical services.

  • We provide shelter, meals, personal care and 24-hour support for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of residents with terminal illness.

  • No extraordinary care needs such as ventilators and trachs, or difficult behaviors that cannot be managed in a safe and comfortable way by a staff of volunteers can be admitted.

  • Residents and family members must be willing to meet with the Executive Director to determine appropriateness of placement at The Heart of Jesus Home for the Dying.

  • Final selection is not determined by age, color, creed, ethnic or religious background, but by a client who meets the admission criteria and presents the most immediate and significant need, and are in agreement with our mission and values.
